Instructions: 1. View the Video - Rudiment #15 - The Triple Stroke Roll low / high 2. Practice the long Triple Stroke Roll, making sure to start slowly, gradually increasing speed until the roll is closed. Make sure that you play evenly, with good balance. Be especially careful to play smoothly at the point where the roll becomes too fast to play individual strokes and begins to play bounce strokes. Also, make sure to open the roll up as slowly as you closed it. Playing three bounces in a row is not easy, so spend some time with this one. The point at which you stop playing three individual strokes and begin to play a triple bounce will be the most difficult. Find a speed at which you can play a triple bounce comfortably and stay at that tempo for a while. Watch closely and make sure that your hands are balanced. Though this is a difficult rudiment, mastering it has a big payoff in terms of dexterity and control.
Practice: Practice the Triple Stroke Roll in open to closed fashion , then play it closed (fast tempo) , from soft to loud , then back to soft again. Keep your hands as relaxed as possible and play smoothly. Watch the videos a few times until you know how to make the Triple Stroke Roll flow.
Tips/Comments: Keep in control at all times .
Follow-up: Go to the Rudiment #16
